FreePatentsOnline
FreePatentsOnline.com provides free access to US patents and patent applications, partial European data via PDF downloading. Field search is possible (i.e. inventor, inventor country, issue Date, title, abstract etc.) as well as Boolean search and a few useful filters.

Macromedia Shockwave periodic table
An outstanding periodic table by ACS makes wise usage of Shockwave technology. Basic data on each element including its atomic radius, stable isotopes, melting point and density can be presented as text or on a graph. Different elemental groups can be distinguished by color, and electron configuration is viewed thru intuitive interface. One of the best Web based periodic tables I've ever seen.

A Search Engine for Acronyms
Acronyma, a search engine for acronyms and abbreviations was recently launched. The database currently contains 472,328 acronyms and abbreviations in seven languages!

Entrez cross-database search page
Titled: "Entrez: The life sciences search engine" this page is a useful gateway for searching all NBCI databases including PubMed, PubChem, Genome projects and more. Users can enter terms and click 'GO' to run the search against ALL the databases, OR Click Database Name or Icon to go directly to the Search Page for that database, OR click Question Mark for a short explanation of that database.

UniProt (Universal Protein Resource) is the world's most comprehensive catalog of information on proteins. It is a central repository of protein sequence and function created by joining the information contained in Swiss-Prot, TrEMBL, and PIR.
