Free Full-Text Journals in Chemistry
This is a comprehensive list of freely available journals in Chemistry and related subjects. According to the author, Alexander Ragoisha of the Belarusian State University, Minsk, Belarus, the Directory lists the fully and partly free journals that comply with the following criteria:
  • publisher's grading of a journal as peer-reviewed;
  • one-year, at least, free full-text content, or extensive free supplements to printed versions of papers;
  • chemistry or chemistry-related subject coverage;
  • English language of articles (journals in Russian are also listed on a separate page).

Directory of open access journals
This service covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals, covering all subjects and languages. There are now 2811 journals in the directory including 61 in chemistry. Currently 858 journals are searchable at article level. As of today 144286 articles are included in the DOAJ service.
The project (beta) was developed at the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. This promising tool introduces an interesting user interface and powerful search capabilities. As of June 2007 more than 15 M publications, by more than 6.7 M authors have been indexed. uses the Open Access Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) to retrieve scientific knowledge data. Repositories who support the OAI-PMH Protocol can add their content to the index by manually adding their OAI URL.

EPA National Library Network
The EPA National Library Network provides access to information about the environment and related scientific, technical, management, and policy information. Academic Ranking of World Universities - 2007
A global university ranking system is presented by Professor Nian Cai LIU et al. of the Institute of Higher Education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The group ranks universities by several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, articles published in Nature and Science, articles indexed in major citation indices, and the per capita academic performance of an institution.

MIT's OpenCourseWare
A free and open educational resource (OER) for educators, students, and self-learners around the world. Although it has been around since 2003, the OpenCourseWare continues to add courses. Courses in chemistry and chemical engineering are available for undergraduate and graduate students.

REACH - Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals
The new EU legislative framework for chemical substances was formally adopted on 18 December 2006 by the Council of Environment Ministers and will enter into force on 1 June 2007. It replaces the current patchwork of many different directives and regulations which has developed historically. The REACH Regulation gives greater responsibility to industry to manage the risks from chemicals and to provide safety information on the substances. Manufacturers and importers will be required to gather information on the properties of their substances, which will help them manage them safely, and to register the information in a central database.
