Used as a disinfectant in the brewing industry, a glass etchant, a mothproof agent for textiles, and a wood preservative. It is also used for light metal casting, electroplating, extracting potassium from green sand, and producing cryolite and ammonium chlorate; it is also used for barium salt determination in chemical analysis. Used as an analytical reagent, also used in the preparation of preservatives.
