Description

Ethylmagnesium bromide is prepared by the reaction of metal magnesium and bromoethane in anhydrous ether, and the relative density of the commercial product (ether solution) is about 1.01. It is used in Grignard reactions, similar to ethyl magnesium chloride, in ether or in tetrahydrofuran, with a relative density of 0.85. Chemicalbook Properties Ethylmagnesium bromide generally exists and is used in the form of a solution, which can be dissolved in diethyl ether, butyl ether, isopropyl ether, THF and anisole. Ethylmagnesium bromide is a useful reagent for preparing zirconium complexes with two phenoxyimine chelating ligands for olefin polymerization.
