Description

Also known as 2-propanol, commonly known as fire wine, it is a colorless, flammable liquid with a strong odor under normal temperature and pressure. The molecular formula is C3H8O. Isopropanol is the simplest secondary alcohol and one of the propanol isomers. Colorless transparent liquid with a odor like a mixture of ethanol and acetone. Soluble in water, also soluble in most organic solvents such as alcohol, ether, benzene, chloroform, etc. Isopropanol is an important chemical product and raw material. Mainly used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, fragrances, coatings, etc. Belongs to a medium explosion hazard. It is a flammable and low-toxic substance. The toxicity of vapor is twice that of ethanol, and the toxicity when taken orally is the opposite. Isopropyl alcohol can replace ethanol as a solvent in many cases. It is a good solvent and chemical raw material. It is used in coatings, medicine, pesticides, cosmetics and other industries. It is also used in the production of acetone, isopropyl ester, isopropylamine (atrazine). raw materials), diisopropyl ether, isopropyl acetate and thymol. It is the first chemical product obtained from petroleum raw materials in the history of petrochemical development.

Storage Conditions:
1. The storage tanks, pipes and related equipment of anhydrous isopropyl alcohol can be made of carbon steel, but there should be measures to prevent water vapor. Aqueous isopropanol must be properly lined or stainless steel containers or equipment to prevent corrosion. Pumps handling isopropyl alcohol are preferably automatically controlled centrifugal pumps with explosion-proof electric motors. Transportation can be done by car tanker, train tanker, 200l (53usgal) iron drum or smaller container. The outer wall of the transport container should be marked with a flammable liquid. 2. Storage precautions Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The library temperature should not exceed 37℃. Keep container tightly closed. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, halogens, etc., and should not be mixed. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Prohibit the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. Storage areas should be equipped with emergency release equipment and suitable containment materials.
