    Background
    In order to strengthen food waste management, ensure food safety, promote resources recycling, maintain urban and rural beauty and environmental health, Xi'an government decided build food waste resource utilization and harmless treatment in Xi'an (Phase I) in form of BOO. Xi'an government purchases food waste collection, transportation and comprehensive disposal services from project company according to concession agreement.
    Scheme 1
    The process is "pretreatment + anaerobic digestion". Treatment capacity includes 200t/d of food waste and 20t/d of waste oil. The process is composed of: food waste pretreatment, anaerobic digestion, biogas purification and utilization, waste oil disposal, residue treatment system, etc.
    Scheme 2
    Waste resources, reduction, harmless and other goals can be achieved via this process. After sorting and pulping, organic matter enters the anaerobic digestion reactor, and biogas is generated through biological anaerobic process. After a certain residence time, remaining anaerobic digestion liquid is discharged from the system. Biogas, biogas slurry and biogas residue (or sludge) shall be recycled or treated accordingly.
